#7. Prototype on Tabletop Simulator

Hi Everyone,

Two pieces of news from the world of Fortuna this month. I’ll save the best till last, so keep reading to the end.

  1. We are still looking for an artists — specifically, an illustrator

We’ve had a few productive conversations this month with people from the world of art and design (thanks to those of you who wrote to me with useful contacts). Though it’s certainly been an interesting journey so far, we still haven’t found the artist we’re looking for.

The visuals will be crucial to our success, so we can’t rush the selection. Finding the right person who can capture the feel and historical character of Fortuna is probably the hardest and most important part of the process after game design itself. One thing I have learned this month, however, is that we need to find an illustrator first and foremost, since it will be easier to find a designer who can work round existing illustrations than vice versa. This amazing commission is therefore still up for grabs: if anyone knows of an interested party, don’t hesitate to get in touch!

And now for the big news…

2. Fortuna can now be played online on Tabletop Simulator

After a lot of work behind the scenes, you too can try the game for yourself online. For those who don’t know, Tabletop Simulator allows you to play 1000s of different board and role-playing games with friends (it costs around €20 and is a staple for serious board gamers). The Fortuna file is currently not public but is available to newsletter subscribers on request. This is a big step because it will allow us to effectively market the game in the run up to crowdfunding by allowing people all over the world to play for themselves and see how great Fortuna is. It also means that you can try the game too if you are curious (Tabletop Simulator has a bit of a learning curve, but it’s quite simple once you’ve got the hang of it). I’ve attached a screenshot so you can take a look.
